Summary:
The Medical Care Provider/CPR Instructor will provide support to
the US Army Transportation School, Sustainment Center of Excellence
(SCoE) MITD-Simulator Operator/Technical Instructor Support
Services.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
* Service is focused on classroom instruction utilizing current
training simulations and hands on demonstrations.
* Will daily review and update lessons plans, review and recommend
as required update to course POI, and support as Assistant
Instructor (AI) to all other blocks of instruction being conducted
daily.
* Instructor must complete the Army Basic Instructor Course (ABIC),
the Cadre Training Course (CTC).
* Daily, the instructor must have all lessons plans ready, have
copies of all reference material available and be prepared to
present instruction in accordance with (IAW) the POI for that day's
block of instruction.
* Will develop and/or modifies lesson plans for assigned area of
instruction or for groups of other instructors. Lesson plans
typically reflect advanced techniques in instructional techniques
and tactics.
* Determines the way to best convey the course material to the
students using a combination of teaching methods, e.g.,
conferences, demonstrations, and practical exercises on equipment,
to present the subject matter. This supports all courses and is
used for Warrant Officer series 881, 881A2, 880, 880A2, MOS 88K
series, Skill Levels 10 thru 40 and 88L series, Skill Levels 10
thru 40. The Contractor shall be responsible for maintaining an
instructor to student ratio of no more than 1:24 for up to 24
students. Only one (1) class will run at a time.
* Training is an on-going activity while all other courses/classes
are in session.
* Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
* Must have comprehensive level of knowledge in the following
areas: Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Body Function
and Structure, Fundamentals of Patient Examination, Poison Control,
Food Handling and Safety Procedures, Spinal, Joint, and
Musculoskeletal Injuries, Heat and Cold Injury prevention and care,
Care of Survivors at Sea, Protocols of External Assistance.
* Working knowledge of Pharmacology and Care for Unconsciousness or
Atypical Mental status patients.
* Must be able to physically conduct simulator operator/technical
instructor/writer duties and in the stated subject area when
required in a classroom, simulator, live training aid, and/or ship
environment.
* Standing for extended periods of time on hard decks or floors
exposed to heat and cold conditions is common when conducting live
training events.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to analyze
situations identify existing or potential problems and recommend
solutions.
* Instructors must possess outstanding communicative skills (verbal
& nonverbal).
* Proficiency in the following Microsoft software programs, which
will be furnished as part of the workstation for performance to
include software updates as provided: Word 2013; Excel 2013;
PowerPoint 2013; and Outlook 2013.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or relevant knowledge acquired through
experience/training that is equivalent to education/training, USCG
license, and Maritime/Cargo Handling technology degree program.
* Maritime candidates must have ability to be vetted as meeting the
qualifications as a vessel watch officer through the National
Maritime Center (NMC) for acceptance as a U.S. Coast Guard approved
instructor.
* Must have current American Red Cross Instructor Certification for
CPR, AED and First Aid Modalities.
* Must have working experience (at least three years) and knowledge
of medical care to the sick and injured onboard US Army Vessels, in
accordance with Section A-VI/4-1 of the Standards of Training,
Certification and Watch Keeping (STCW) Code.
* For MOS 88K/88L Skill Levels 10 thru - 40 and 880/881 Skill Level
1 and 2 Instruction and Certification.
* Ability to successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
* An advanced degree in a related field.
