Repair is seeking to hire a medical intern at Norfolk Ship Repair,
VA. Relocation will be offered, but housing is not provided.This
internship is targeting students currently enrolled in medical
programAs a LEAP Medical Intern, you will:
- Work within a diverse workforce and functional groups
- Gain exposure to and understand the complexity of medical
operations at a shipyard which experiences a wide variety of
medical needs.
- Interact with team members within our company such as medical
staff, safety/chemist employees, craft/trade hourly employees,
program management team members (ship superintendents, project
managers, program managers, etc.), craft managers, craft
supervisors, and other customers
- Contribute to substantial work that will be beneficial to your
academic and future professional careers
- You'll assist in managing work-related injuries and illnesses
and return workers to their duties in a caring and efficient
manner.
- A champion for healthy work conditions at the site, you'll
support efforts to reduce or eliminate health hazards for
employees.
- Reporting to the Medical Department Lead / Supervisor, you'll
be tasked in the maintenance and administration of the company's
Occupational Health and Safety program, policies, and procedures
ensuring compliance with Occupational and Health and Safety
regulations set by Federal OSHA and other agencies including
Department of Labor, Department of Transportation, Coast Guard,
State agencies, and per various customer requirements.Work

- Frequently exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, outside
weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat

- The noise level in the shipyard environment is usually loud;
office environment is usually low to moderateTemporary employees

insurance.Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Enrolled in current medical educational program for nursing or
EMT
- Effective communication
- Must be able to maintain accurate and confidential medical
records
- The intern should be able to work in a fast-paced environment,
walk long distances, and lift moderate weights Preferred Education,

- The intern may need to sign a confidentiality agreement to
protect sensitive information about the shipyard, its employees,
and its operations.

note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However,
individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors
including, but not limited to: business considerations, local
market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate
qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.Temporary
employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but
can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary
