Job Title: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Location: Norfolk, VA Job Type: Full-Time Pay Range: $20/hour - $25/hour (depending on experience and certification level) Overview:
-We are seeking dependable and skilled Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to provide on-site triage and first-aid care at a dynamic shipyard environment in Norfolk, VA. This is an experienced-level role (EMT-3), with responsibilities beyond standard transport-including triage, first-aid, and safety monitoring. Candidates will need to carry medical gear, perform light physical labor, and manage medical response independently after an initial training period. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide immediate first-aid and triage for injuries and medical incidents on-site.
  • Transport injured personnel to designated on-site clinics when further care is needed.
  • Collect and document medical information accurately in medical logs or databases.
  • Perform hands-on tasks such as bandaging, vitals monitoring, and basic medical assessments.
  • Carry a 40 lb jump bag and navigate complex environments, including climbing stairs and drydock access.
  • May be required to ride in a man basket to access certain areas of the worksite.
  • Arrive 30 minutes before shift start for daily readiness and handoff.
  • Rotate between 1st and 2nd shifts and work two weekends per month. Shift Schedule:
  • Normal Schedule:
  • 1st Shift: 7:15 AM - 4:00 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM
  • Summer Schedule:
  • 1st Shift: 6:15 AM - 3:00 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM
  • Additional Info:
  • Rotating schedule includes both day and night shifts.
  • Employees are expected to work two weekends per month. Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
  • Active EMT-Basic (EMT-B), EMT-Advanced (EMT-A), EMT-Intermediate (EMT-I), or Paramedic certification.
  • Prior hands-on EMS experience in triage, first response, or industrial/construction sites.
  • Must be physically capable of climbing stairs and lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Computer literate with the ability to document in spreadsheets and medical logs.
  • Able to work independently after initial training.
  • Steel-toe boots required for all shifts (PPE compliance). Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills:
  • CPR Certification (Preferred but not required).
  • Background working in fire departments, industrial settings, or similar EMS environments.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, biology, and emergency care fundamentals. Ameri-Force Benefits
