Advertised Salary: $68, 370- $90,591 Depending upon qualifications

Job Description: The Licensed Clinician II (Counselor, Case manager, Clinical Social Worker) operates as part of a comprehensive 23-Hour Crisis Stabilization team that provides ongoing assessment, crisis intervention and clinical determination for level of care to individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis. This dynamic team addresses urgent behavioral health needs including but not limited to significant emotional dysregulation, disordered thought processes, substance use intoxication resulting in behavioral crisis and environmentally de-stabilizing events that require multi-disciplinary crisis intervention.In this program, the Licensed Clinician II (Counselor, Case manager, Clinical Social Worker) operates in both a supervisory/administrative and clinical role. The Licensed Clinician II provides clinical oversight to assigned licensed clinician I and unlicensed clinician II staff, assists in monitoring quality assurance, contributes to process improvement and assists in problem-solving within the department. The Licensed Clinician II will also be responsible for providing person-centered, trauma-informed care to individuals with the goal of stabilization at the least restrictive level of care and an emphasis on post crisis growth. An ideal candidate will work well with multiple internal and community stakeholders including police, community partners, peer support and emergency services staff to coordinate care and safety in the community. The candidate will have knowledge of the DSM-V, suicide risk assessment and safety planning, crisis intervention, levels of care, community resources and trauma-informed practices that promote client engagement.

Typical Tasks Include

  • Conducts assessments to determine medical necessity, client needs, and pertinent factors related to crisis episode.
  • Develops individualized treatment plans based on the comprehensive needs assessment that focuses on client strengths and resources.
  • Provides individual and family therapy as needed.
  • Facilitates crisis intervention and skills restoration for improvement of acute symptoms.
  • Conducts safety planning and health literacy counseling to prevent the need for a higher level of care and provide targeted education concerning diagnosis and treatments.
  • Provides care coordination and transition to the next level of care, including screening and referrals for appropriate behavioral health services and community resources.
  • Completes clinical documentation in electronic health record and assure that all filing of clinical information and submission of billing information are done accurately and within the time frame required.
  • Provides direct supervision to assigned staff.
  • Conducts quality assurance audits and monitors service delivery for adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the development of department processes and process improvement.

    Required Qualifications: VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
    Requires a master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a closely related field, or another degree as approved by the Virginia Department of Health Professions.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
    In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of four years of related, full-time equivalent experience.

    SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
    • Requires State of Virginia licensure as a Clinical Psychologist (LCP), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Professional Counselor (LPC).
    • A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist MD/DO, or a Bachelor's Prepared Registered Nurse (RN) with five years of experience may be considered in the Emergency Services Program.
    • May require Pre-Screening Certification within 6 weeks of employment (12 weeks for part-time staff) for those in the Emergency Services Program.
    • Depending on the position, it may require a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City's Driving Standards.
      SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
      Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
